What Is Text Twist?

Never played this word jumble game before? No worries! That just means you have a new game that tests your vocabulary skills in a fun and exciting way.

How Do You Play Text Twist?

Text Twist is an anagram solver game you can play in a web browser or in a mobile app for your Apple or Android device. It’s simple in its premise and will keep you entertained for hours.

The rules are simple. Each level in the game features an assortment of blank squares of varying sizes, arranged in columns and rows. They’re sorted by length, starting with the shortest words. Below or beside that is a cluster of random letters. You need to find words using those letters. When you do, the words fill the squares.

A Twisted Race Against the Clock

Think fast! The standard game mode is timed; each level typically features a two-minute time limit. Yes, the game is out to see how good your skills are under pressure. With Text Twist 2, you have the option to play an untimed version of the game instead.

To clear a level and move onto the next round, you don’t need to find every hidden word in the puzzle. That’s the good news. The more challenging news is that you will need to find the largest hidden word in order to keep going. Finding 7-letter words is no easy feat. That’s why you can always turn to our Text Twist cheat here for a bit of help.

Fast, Furious and Fun!

It's a fast-paced challenge, contrasting a slower, more strategic game like Wordle where deciding on the best Wordle starting word can mean a world of difference. Here, you'll want to play quickly.

Some of Text Twist’s puzzles can be a bit tricky, but you don’t need to worry. We have the Text Twist solver you’ll need to win right here, whether your game is Text Twist, Super Text Twist (which handily lets you Save and Exit), or Text Twist 2 (which adds more game modes). Maybe you already know about our Words With Friends® cheat tool too.

Top Tips for How to Win at Text Twist

Text Twist help is at hand! Before you take on a word scramble, follow our helpful tips and tricks for playing Text Twist like a champ:

  1. Breathe! That countdown clock is an incarnate digital anxiety attack. Don’t let it get under your skin. Even if it means letting a few precious seconds tick away, get your head together. You have a much better chance of hitting on that winning bingo word with a little bit of zen.

  2. Get Creative! The dictionary in Text Twist is very “generous.” It allows for some pretty obscure words, including many you wouldn’t find in a Scrabble® dictionary. If you’re stuck, take a chance on a likely letter combination. Aside from losing a second or two on the timer, there’s no penalty for trying a word.

  3. Get Pally with Palindromes! When a word works, try it again backwards. It’s amazing how you can sometimes solve anagrams just by reversing them. And, even when they don’t, it’s a useful exercise to help you see your letters in a different way.

  4. Pluralize It! If there’s an S, put it on everything. Unlike what you'll find with a Wordle word finder, where simple plurals are never the answer, Text Twist loves plurals. The letter "S" will fill up spaces beautifully. More importantly, when there’s an S in the selection tray, the all-important bingo word could be a plural.

  5. Play Up Those Suffixes. Just like adding the letter S to the end of words, look for words ending in ED, ER, ING and other common suffixes.

  6. Start Small. Play Obvious. It’s tempting to go all-out for the bingo in the first few seconds. Resist that temptation. Rather, spend the first 10 seconds spelling out the easy answers you see right away. That will give you a feel for possible letter patterns and the larger words that will solve your puzzle.

  7. Use the Twist Button. Sometimes, all it takes is to look at your set of random letters in a slightly different way. The Twist button shuffles your letters and you can use it as many times as you’d like. No charge!

For the best results, follow our tips to unscramble words and win your next game with ease!
